Moments in Urology

Jas Coles-Black

New technologies and the richness in opportunities for innovation in our specialty excites many young Urologists. I was thrilled to be invited as Faculty for the Biofabrication for Surgeons Workshop by the Herston Biofabrication Institute (HBI) to speak on regulation in medical 3D printing. This was the first 3D printing workshop to attract RACS CPD accreditation at the recent RACS ASC.

I was treated to a tour of their remarkable point of care facilities. Located at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, HBI produces hundreds of anatomical models and guides annually, servicing the Metro North health network.
There I met Urology researchers Becca Murray and Georges Mehawed, who shared the awesome 3D printed pyeloplasty trainer prototype they are working on.

Thank you to HBI for hosting me! Looking forward to future collaborations between HBI and YURO.
